SERVICEMEN ENTERTAINED
Mrs. C. A. Mathews, of Kuala Lumpur, F.M.S., who has been spending a short holiday in Sydney before going on to Tasmania for several months, is an energetic member of the ladies" committee of the Kuala Lumpur Anzac Club, which was the first club to |be formed for A.I.F. troops in Malaya states the "Sydney Morning Herald." "This club has 'boomed' from the day it was opened. Each evening about 400 soldiers are entertained and at weekends the number is nearly doubled," she said. , "At first • many Australians seemed disappointed at being stationed in Malaya, but now they realise: that there is probably a grim job to tfe done."
Mrs. Mathews is also a member of the sewing section of the Malayan Patriotic Fund, which sends 450 gifts each month to Malaya House, in London, to be distributed to bombed victims. Each parcel contains a complete set of clothing. HeY son, Flight Lieutenant Richard Mathews, passed through Sydney last year on his way to London to join the "R.A.F.
