IMMOBILISED SHIPS
IN SERVICE BY AMERICAS
RUGBY, October 30.
A plan for putting into service foreign vessels immobilised in American ports was approved "-by the Inter-American Financial, and Economic Advisory Committee on August 28, 1941.
The British Government was consulted about it, and it has now been adopted by the Governments of the several American Republics concerned. The British Government has addressed a communication to these Governments' in the following terms:—"ln consideration of the benefit which will accrue, directly or indirectly, to the war effort of the British Government through the adoption by Governments concerned of the plan approved by the Inter-American Financial and Economic Advisory Committee, the British Government is prepared to waive its belligerent rights to intercept and place in prize those foreign vessels which have been immobilised in American ports, provided that they are operated in accordance with this plan, and are notified to -.the British Government as such."—B.O.W.
