OBITUARY

MRS. NORAH PENDER.

A wide circle of friends (including many of the families of the West Coast pioneers who migrated to Wellington nearly half a century ago) will learn with regret of the recent death of Mrs. Norah Pender, 'formerly of Rugby/Street, Wellington., She came to Wellington from Brunner on the Coast in 1893 with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis McParland, and had resided here ever since.

The esteem and affection in which she was held by her relatives and friends, and the appreciation of her charitable life, was shown by the large congregation at the Requiem Mass at St. Joseph's Church, which was offered up by the Rev. Monsignor Mcßae, who later officiated at the graveside.

Mrs. Pender, who was the widow of Mr. Arthur Pender, a New Zealand representative footballer and son of the late Police Inspector Pender, of Wellington, is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Christopher Mcßae, Christchurch, and Mrs. John Griffiths, Greymouth, a brother, Mr. James McParland, and a sister, Mrs. K. Dwyer, both of Wellington, and by twelve grandchildren.
