GREAT CARTOONIST
TRIBUTE TO MINHININICK
A high tribute to, the work of the Auckland cartoonist Minhinnick was paid by the Minister of Finance (Mr. Nash) in the House of Kepresentatives last.night during discussion of the Supplementary Estimates. He was ■replying to a question by Mr. F. W: Doidge (National, Tauranga), who asked if any of Minhinnick's work was represented in an Empire Exhibition of war cartoons, in Canada, .for which provision for £25 expenses was made in the additional Vote for" the Department of Internal Affairs.
Mr. Nash said that he did riot want to • flatter Minhihflick, because he did some nasty things to him. Minhinnick was one of the greatest cartoonists in the world today, some of his work being worthy of David Low.
Mr. W. J. Poison (National, Stratford): He hasn't got your expression just right, though. .
Mr. Nash said that the collection that had been sent included a good deal of Minhinnick's work, irrespective of what he thought of Ministers or what he did to Ministers.
