PROGRESS OF KHANDALLAH
Khandallah has now a population of nearly 4000, says the annual report of the Khandallah Progressive Association. The amalgamation with Onslow had proved advantageous. The electrification of the railway service had assisted in the progress of the district, also the erection of the large number of houses. Future expansion would depend on the development of land situated on the western side of the railway.
The multiple unit electric train system had functioned satisfactorily, with the occasional interruptions which were anticipated in a fast service on a single-track line. Accommodation at peak hours was still a difficulty, but additional units were at present unobtainable.
The local Home Guard and E.P.S. unit now numbers 300. The report deals with the secured amenities and works during the year, and states that the formation of Cashmere Park and the regrading of the elevated section of Jubilee Road are well advanced.
