DESPERATE STEP
NAZIS TAKE NORWEGIAN
BLANKETS
(Rec. 2 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 26.
' A Gothenburg report says that Herr Terboven, the Nazi leader, has ordered all woollen blankets, except those in northern districts, to be surrendered by September 30 for the use of German troops in Russia.
Anyone failing to obey is liable to imprisonment. for three years.
The Norwegian Director-General of Health,. Lieutenant-Colonel Evang, stated in London that this is a desperate and brutal step. The climate of Norway demands the heating of houses in many districts for eight months of the year.
. The Germans are unable to supply sufficient fuel for heating, and warm clothing and bedding are more necessary than ever, especially in vi^w of the lack of foodstuffs of high calorific content.
