PROTEST BY VIGHY
EVENTS IN INDO-CHINA
LONDON, September 26.
The Vichy Government today made a protest to Japan about incidents in French Indo-China which were said to violate French sovereignty. A Vichy communique said that Japanese military forces had taken it upon themselves to search houses and close streets in Haiphong and Hanoi, and arrested 100 Chinese.
The communique added that a vigorous protest had been made.. It was pointed out that the Japanese Government had pledged itself to respect French sovereignty in French IndoChina.
