STATION OWNER'S ACTION

The action of a well-known station owner, who insists upon remaining anonymous, but who since the beginning of the war has devoted the whole of his income to the War Expenses Account, after providing for taxation and normal living expenses, was commented upon today by the Minister of Finance (Mr. Nash)."

A number of the station owner's employee^ are on active service and he has established a trust fund for their benefit, to which he paid £100 out of his profits for the past year. After making provision for^this purpose and for living expenses, income tax, and Social Security charges, there remained from his income of £1513 6s 3d for the year ended March 31 last a surplus of £479 ss. lOd. This amount has been received by Mr. Nash for payment into the War Expenses Account.
