FRONTIER PROVINCES

COUNTRY'S AID IN WAR

LONDON, September 23. Large-scale manoeuvres are to be held in the frontier provinces of India. They will deal largely with air defence, and the landing of parachutists and counter-measures will also be practised. .•India's importance in the supply of munitions to Russia by way of Iran was referred to today by Mr. Amery, Secretary for India. In spite of internal difficulties, India is with Britain in this war, he said—the people as well as the princes. India had raised an army of nearly a million men. Her navy was growing fast, and it was no secret that Indian ships manned by Indians had taken part in the Battle of the Atlantic. India's air force was young but was growing rapidly.
