REUNION DANCE

SOUTH AFRICAN WAR

VETERANS

With the colours of the South African regiments holding pride of place in the simple and effective scheme decorating Taita Hall, the association of South African War Veterans held its annual reunion recently. Taking the form of a dance where the members of the veterans' families, even to the third generation, can join in ihappy comradeship, this always popular function drew, on this occasion, a record attendance.

Orders and decorations were worn The guests of honour were Colonel F. B-. Mabin, Mr, A. J. McCurdy (patron of the Veterans' Association), Mr, and Mrs. J. -W. Andrews, and Mr. A Ashford (R.S.A.), and Mrs. Ashford. Mr. A "J. Harper, president, and Mrs. Harper received the guests.

Mr. J. Andrews voiced the general feeling of pride in the veterans for the job that they had done, and still were doing for their country, Colonel Mabin and Mr. McCurdy also spoke briefly. A clever dance duo was performed by Misses Heather and Margaret. Wright, Mr, Bert Kitchener was M.C., and a savoury supper was served by a committee of ladies which, included Mesdames J. Pescim 'convener), F. Kitchener. E. Mulligan, C H, Ritzema, A. J. Harper, and B. Smith. The veterans" committee comprised Mr A. J Harper (president), Mr, R, Tompkins (vice-president), Sergeant-Major C H. Ritzema (secretary, Messrs P Willson. F. Kitchener! J. Pescini, and D. Ross.
