U.S. CREDITS FOR SOVIET

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17.

The Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Jesse Jones, announced that the United States Government wculd provide 100,000,000 dollars for Russia to purchase war materials in the United States.

This credit is not regarded as a loan but as advance payment in respect of the future importation of platinum, magnesium, and chromite from Russia. Mr. Jones has already made available 10,000,000 dollars in credits to Russia and expects to give a further 40,000,000 within a few weeks to permit the purchase of such things as warplanes and machine tools.
