FORTY-ONE CONVICTIONS
Arthur McKeever, a labourer, aged 59, a man with thirty-nine previous convictions, has now an amended list of forty-one convictions. In the Supreme Court today he appeared before Mr. Justice Blair on one charge of forgery and one of uttering (a cheque for £30 was involved), having pleaded guilty at Wanganui on September 3. In view of the fact that the charges were "washirig-up" chargesoffences disclosed by .the. prisoner when he was sentenced .to twelve months' imprisonment on : other charges—MeKeever wa's copyicted and discharged. A formal "watHin.g/-was "recorded that he had qualified- to' be declared a habitual criminal. Mr. R.Hardie Boys appeared for the prisoner, and Mr, W. R. Birks for the ! Crown. . : .
