FLOATING MINE

SUNK BY RIFLE FIRE

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 8.

A floating mine was sunk by rifle fire from the Gisborne sheep farmers' motor-vessel Margaret W. and the Richardson Line motor-ship Kopara about 19 miles outside White Island last Thursday morning. The mine was reported to be adrift on Sunday, August 31, by the Superintendent of Mercantile Marine.
