This "morning his Excellency the Gvernor-General, attended by Captain C. J. Holland-Martin, inspected a factory engaged in the production of war material.
The appointment of Mr. A. A. McLachlan as a temporary .Stipendiary Magistrate is gazetted.
Dr. E. O'Neill has resigned, after 12 years' service with the' Union Steam Ship Company, to take up a position at Auckland with the Army Medical Board.
Mr. Ernest Watson, who has been attached to the Dunedih staff of the Union Bank of Australia, Ltd., for the past 11 years, has received advice of his transfer to the Wellington office of the bank, and will leave Dunedin on Saturday morning.
