ROTARY CLUB LUNCHEON
HEALTH CAMP COVERLETS
| When the Wellington Rotary Club i held its annual "husbands and wives" l luncheon yesterday the president, Mr. F. Jones, paid tribute to the work .the women of Rotary (Rotary Anns) had been doing on the social side, particularly in connection with work for the fighting forces. A suggestion for further work was maie by Dr. H. E. Gibbs, who spoke of the need for new coverlets for the children's beds at the Otaki Health Camp. Six years ago coloured coverlets for these beds had been supplied by the Rotary ladies, but were now rather the worse for wear. The King George V Fund trustees, who attended to these camps throughout New Zealand, had recently agreed to reappoint the whole of the interior of the Otaki buildings and the present coverlets would look still worse against the newly-painted dormitories.; There were 100 beds, and Dr. Gibbs suggested that a committee of the wives of the Rotary directors might be able to do something in the matter of providing new covers. The president, in reply, stated that the community service committee would take charge of this matter. It was stated by Mr. P. Maddock that club members had provided sweets and ice cream, and also transport to and from the theatre for the 200 orphans from the various homes who were the guests of the Wellington Musical Comedy Company at the matinee performance ,of "Rose Marie" on Saturday. The luncheon, which took place at Kirkcaldie and Stains, was followed by a short musical programme, the performers being Mr. H. F. Wood and Mrs. Wilfred Andrews, who sang solos and duets. Mr. J. W. Carr was the accompanist.
