WATERSIDERS IN COURT

(P.A.) DUNEDIN, August 12. Two waterside workers, Edward James Duffy, aged 26, and James Home, aged 58, appeared in the Magistrates' Court charged with having stolen a quantity of goods, the property of the Union Steam Ship Company. ; With them William Clingan Fraser, also a waterside worker, aged 33, was charged with receiving stolen property. All three pleaded guilty. Asking for a remand till August 19, Detective-Sergeant Hall said the charges arose out of pillaging on the wharves, and the offences were serious. In the case of Duffy, who admitted having stolen goods valued at £15, some 25 to 30 receptacles must have been opened. A remand was granted, bail being allowed in all cases.
