Advice has been received by Air Headquarters, Wellington, that Sergeant Frank Skipwith Kirke has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal.

Sergeant F. S. Kirke, who was born at Wellington in 1917, was educated at Marlborough College, Blenheim. At the time of his enlistment his next-of-kin was Mrs. A. B. Kirke (mother), 89 Owen Street, Wellington.

The official citation states that Sergeant Kirke has completed many operations against the enemy as an air observer and that his navigation has been of the very highest order, and he has always shown the greatest keenness in his work. He has displayed outstanding ability, determination, and devotion to duty throughout.
