INVESTITURE AT PALACE
RUGBY, June 17. Corporal Wyllie, of the Royal Engineers, a member of the bomb disposal squad that removed the giant [bomb from St. Paul's Cathedral, was SJecorated by the King with the George vCross at an investiture held this week •at Buckingham Palace. An official acfcount of Corporal Wyllie's gallantry [spoke of his "intense energy and the fexample he set his comrades." The I^Cing asked him: "How long did it take f"he squad to get the bomb out?" Three days, your Majesty," replied jCorporal Wyllie. & At the same investiture the King decorated Lieutenant Richard Moore, p.N.V.R., with the George Cross, for teallantry and, undaunted devotion to duty. / jjsJn addition to these two men, the King decorated eight women arid 196 men with the George Medal. Most £f them came from the civil defence services and the police, but there were paembers of the three fighting Services, jknd the Home Guard.—B.O.W.
