I The stall' of the Onehunga Borough ! Council gave other local bodies a lead lon Saturday in combining patriotism i with utility, with the result that the 1 Fighting Forces Fund was increased by £85 in cash and the borough has been cleaned up in the one operation, reports the ''New Zealand Herald." Each householder had been notified during the week that all classes of rubbish would be collected on Saturday at a minimum charge of 6d, and 65 employees of the council did the work free. The cash contributions varied from (id to 10s, and 12U tons of rubbish were collected.
