OFFENSIVE SWEEP
R.A.F. OVER FRENCH COAST

RUGBY, May 29
Squadrons of the R.A.F. Fighter Command carried out an offensive sweep over the French coast yesterday, shooting down one of the latest German fighters, a MelO9f. and damaging several others.
The Messerschmitts were seen below the British fighters, whose pilots report that the Spitfires were definitely superior to their foes. They returned without a bullet-hole.—B.O.W,
