PHILIPPINES MAKES READY

Claudio Sandoval, chairman of the Philippine Assembly's Committee for National Defence, told officers of the Army Reserve Training School that indications pointed to the islands being involved in war "soonei- than most people expect."
"We are, therefore, preparing for the worst, armed force being ready for a call at any moment."
The Philippine Customs halted the loading of metal and oils on several jteamers, including the Kinukawa ifcaru under a new order extending the operation of the United States Export Licensing Act to the Philippines. -U,PA
