GAIN CONSOLIDATED
BRITISH AT FALLUJA
ENEMY AIR ATTACK DRIVEN
BACK
DAMAGE BY R.A.F.
LONDON, May 21
The latest news from Irak shows that rebel detachments are being rounded up after the capture' of Falluja yesterday, and a number of prisoners have already been taken. The British position in the town has been consolidated, and today's Middle East air communique says that an attempted enemy air attack was driven back.
Bombers of the R.A.F. have once again attacked the rebel aerodrome at Ashid, near Bagdad, causing considerable damage to hangars and other buildings.
German aircraft operating in support of' the rebels raided Habbania aerodrome yesterday afternoon, and did some slight damage. The enemy machines were intercepted by British fighters, and it is believed that at least two of them were severely damaged.
Many German aircraft which set out for Irak by way of Syria never reach their destination. R.A.F. planes are constantly bombing them on Syrian aerodromes, and yesterday they scored further successes. The aerodromes at Palmyra and Damascus were raided, and it is known that at least two Junkers 52's were damaged at the former aerodrome. The results of the attacks at Damascus could not be observed.
