AIR DEFENCE

MACHINES FROM U.S.A.

HARVARDS AND HUDSONS

HIGH-SPEED PLANES

Several Harvard and Hudson aircraft have arrived in the Dominion from the United States i and will add materially to the air defences of New Zealand.

"The Harvard,'' said the Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones) tast night, "is a modern single-engine trainer which is now extensively used at service flying training schools in the United States and Canada. These aircraft will in due course replace the Gordons and Vincents which have given very good service in Nos. 1 and 2 Service Flying Training Schools.

"The Hudson is a modern high-speed general reconnaissance aircraft. This type of aircraft is extensively employed on general reconnaissance duties in the Royal Air Foyge and has been frequently mentioned in Press communiques regarding the activities of the Royal Air Fox*ce."
