HOLDING OF ELECTIONS
Mir. JY H.'Collins, secretary of the Labour Representation Committee, and candidate: for-the City Council, said that the Minister of Internal Affairs had circularised local bodies and invited an ■ expression of opinion whether the elections should be-held. The majority said that the elections should be held, and the Municipal Conference decided in favour of proceeding with them. After inviting the advice of the organisations, the Minister, could not well ignore them. The L.R.C; was confident that the Government was capable of deciding whether the elections should, proceed br. not. The L.R.C, executive had. suggested that only one meeting be. held. This was hot the accepted opinion of the L.R.C., however,"and the matter was referred back'with a suggestion that the Labour campaign be based upon the activities of the, anti-Labour candidates. ■'.<.. :
