QUEEN CARNIVAL

RAILWAY HEAD OFFICES RAISE £150

The fourth and fifth floors of the railway head offices were scenes of gaiety on Thursday night when about 600 people participated in bridge, dancing, music, and various games in aid of the Victory Queen Carnival

A feature ol the entertainment was its excellent organisation. A committee composed of the wives of railway officers organised the bridge contests in which there were 250 participants and a men's committee from the Wellington Railways stalt controlled the games and dancing: Valuable assistance in the conduct of numerous raffles was given by the president (Mr. E. Brooking) and several members of the Wellington Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association.

Special guests included Mr. E. Casey (General Manager of Railways) and Mrs. Casey, Miss Paddy Gibbons (Transport Queen), Miss Patricia Luckie (Commerce Queen), and Miss Joan Conquest (Railway Princess).

It is anticipated that the funds of the Railway Princess and the Trans-

port Queen will benefit to the extent of about £150 as a result of the evening.
