AUCKLAND. This Day

"To desert your ship, especially in these days, is a grave matter and cannot, be passed over lightly." said Mr. J. Morling, S.M., in the Police Court today, Avhen he sentenced Dennis Ferquhart Archie Gordon Grant, 28. seaman, to one month's imprisonment for deserting a British ship on March 31.

Grant pleaded guilty and had nothing to say.
