STATE OF SIEGE

DECLARED BY. HUNGARY

BULGARIAN PROTEST TO

YUGOSLAVIA

(Received April 8. 1 p.m.)

LONDON, April 7,

A Budapest news agency says that Hungary has declared a state of siege and is manning its defences, omitting no step to safeguard Hungary's interests and keep the war as far as possible from the frontiers.

A Sofia message says that the Government has instructed the Bulgarian Legation in Belgrade to protest to the Yugoslav Government against the bombing of open towns in Bulgaria yesterday.

Rumania has also protested to Yugoslavia against the bombing of Rumanian towns.
