NEW EVERYMAN'S HUT

A function was held at Trentham Camp on Monday evening to celebrate the official opening of the new Everyman's Hut. Colonel McHugh, Camp Commandant, was present and the gathering was presided over by the chairman of the controlling committee of the hut, Mr. C. J. Drake.

The chairman said the building, with its furnishings, had cost approximately £2000. the funds having been supplied by Christian friends in various parts of the Dominion. The object of the committee was to make the hut as homely as possible for the men. and also to provide for their spiritual needs by giving them a short Gospel service every evening.

Colonel McHugh congratulated the committee on bringing to completion such an excellent addition to the other institutes already working at Trentham Camp.

Mr. F. Chappell, Y.M.CA. secretary. speaking on behalf of the other huts, referred to the excellent relations which had existed between Everyman's Hut and the other institutions in the camp.

After Mr. L. Taylor, officer-in-charge of Everyman's Hut, had spoken briefly, Mr. J. C. Tilyard led in prayer. A singing party from Wellington rendered items during the evening.
