WHY THEY FAILED

HIGH CASTE, BEAU VITE

(By Tek'srapli—l'ress Association—Copyright.)

(Received April 7, 1 p.m.)

SYDNEY, This Day

The Sydney trainer J. T. Jamiesou today said that High Caste was still pretty sore and that it would be -i couple of days before it was known whether the horse would be fit to run in the Doncaster Handicap, for which he is favourite.

Mr. R. Stewart, the'owner of Beau Vite. blamed interference for his horse's failure in the Chipping Norton Stakes, but his rider, C. McMenamin. said that Beau Vite could have escaped the trouble had he been speedy enough. Beau Vite was squeezed a little at the half-mile, but only because he wasn't fast enough to take advantage of an opening. Further, he did not race like a champion at any part of the race. Beau Vite carries a mark where he struck the running rail, but he appears to be quite sound. Mr Stewart said that Beau Vite would do better at the A.J.C. Meeting, and that he intends to bring the horse back to Australia for the Melbourne Cup.
