DEFENCE WORKS
NEW ARMY APPOINTMENT
The newly>created Army position in Wellington of fortifications and building officer has been filled by the appointment of Major C. J. W. Parsons, resident Public Works Engineer in Auckland.
Major Parsons was for some years a Territorial officer, and recently joined the Fourth Works Company, Auckland, as a captain. He has been in charge of many important public works undertakings in the province. On the transfer of Mr. T. C. V. Rabone to the Railway Works Company of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, he was appointed resident engineer in Auckland, in which position he has been responsible for many defence works.
Mr. D. R. Williams, engineer for the Paeroa.- sub-district, will become resident engineer in Auckland. His place at Paeroa will be filled by Mr. M. J. Thomas, assistant public works engineer at Hamilton. Mr. E. D. Kalaugher will be transferred from Gisborne as assistant engineer at Hamilton.
