A SPEEDING UP
REMITTANCES TO SOLDIERS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, February 17
sA report that arrangements had now been made to expedite the dispatch of private remittances to soldiers serving overseas was made at a meeting of the standing committee of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council by Mr. J. A. C. Allum.
Mr. Allum said he had been in touch with the Army pay office and was advised that the delays in December were due to no remittances being made for one week. As the moneys were remitted weekly this meant that none had been sent for about a fortnight. He had been informed that arrangements had now been made with the Treasury to remit moneys daily.
