ROYAL CHORAL UNION
SINGERS AT THE WAR
The financial position of the Royal Wellington Choral Union is such that the committee has decided to purchase National Savings Bonds to the value of £105. This is disclosed in the report to be presented at the thirtysixth annual meeting next week.
"While the war is in progress your committee, together with members of the choir, are confronted with the-pro-blem of maintaining a sufficient- number of performing members so that we may carry on successfully during the present state of world affairs," the report, states. "Many of our young men have answered the nation's call and are now serving in the forces, and this has depleted the strength of voices in the male section. It is pleasing to state, however, that 40 new performing members enrolled during the year."
To help raise patriotic funds the committee has decided to give a special patriotic concert on April 19.
