"SAVED BY MIRACLE 55

SINKING OF NAPIER STAR

SYDNEY, January 12,

A cablegram received yesterday by Mr. J. Last, of Adelaide, told of the safety of his son, Dr. R. J. Last, and Mrs. Last, who had been thought dead since the sinking by enemy action of the liner Napier Star on December 19. The cablegram read: "Torpedoed off the coast ot Iceland. Forty hours in lifeboat. Saved by miracle." Dr. Last and his wife were believed to be on their way back to Australia in the Napier Star. They went to England in 1939.
