GIFT OF AMBULANCE

FOR NEW ZEALAND TROOPS

NEW YORK, January 13,
The American millionaire businessman and big game fisherman, Mr. Michael Lerner, who visited New Zealand just before the war, has handed to Miss Nola Luxford, secretary of the New Zealand Society of New York, 1350 dollars for the purchase of an ambulance for New Zealand troops. He is making a similar gift to the Australian troops.

BIG DRIVE THIS YEAR
(Received January 14, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, January 13. South African troops and Abyssinian tribesmen are expected soon to begin a vigorous drive against the Italians in East Africa. General Smuts, in a speech at Johannesburg, said: "The time has come for action. Helping to clear the Italians from Abyssinia and British Somaliland will be South Africa's role this year."
