TWO MEN ARRESTED
ACCIDENT IN AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, January 10.
Two men were arrested tonight after an alleged hit-and-run accident in Symonds Street in which an elderly man was seriously injured while getting on or alighting from a tram. The injured man was Leonard Nixon Bean, married, aged 70, retired farmer. He received concussion, abrasions, and
shock.
Acting Detective Jones, who was a passenger on the tram, caught a passing taxi and set off in pursuit of a truck alleged to be involved, and he was successful in catching up with it. Two men were arrested and spent the night in the cells.
The injured man's condition is fairly serious.
