ITALIAN FORCES

GREEK INITIATIVE

RETAINED ON WHOLE

FRONT

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright-) (Received December 23, 2.40 p.m.)

LONDON, December 22,

It is stated on reliable authority in Athens that after heavy fighting the Italians have been driven from commanding positions in Khimara mountains and are streaming north and attempting to consolidate new positions south of Valona Bay.

According to a Budapest message, the Greek radio reports that positions which the Italians regard as impregnable around Tepeleni have been captured by the Greeks.^. The Greeks are retaining the initiative all along the front and capturing many prisoners and material.
