RAILWAY EARNINGS
NET REVENUE INCREASES
1 Net revenue earned by the'railways during the period of 223 days from April 1 to November 9 amounted to £711,873 as compared with £249,184 for the corresponding period last year. An abstract of the Railways Working Account, published in the Gazette, shows that gross revenue amounted to £6,452,782, an increase of £700,025 over that for the corresponding period of the previous year, and that expenditure totalled £5,740,910, an increase of £237,336. For the four-weekly period ended on November 9 the net revenue was £87,083 as compared with £57,245 for the corresponding four weeks last year. Gross revenue totalled £802,294 with expenditure £715,211, as compared with £735,028 and £677,783 respectively for the corresponding four weeks ot last year.
