MEN OF THE FORCES

A considerable quantity of sports gear has been provided recently by the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council for the benefit of the members of the armed forces in its area. The Hon. Vincent Ward, M.L.C., honorary secretary of the council, stated this week that approximately £250 worth of sports gear had been ordered for Trentham Camp, and most of it already had been delivered. The. equipment included cricket and baser ball sets, tennis and cricket n^ts, 161bghots, high jump standards and bars,' hurdles, and tug-of-war ropes. For the Air Force Station at Rongotai badminton and tenniquoit sets to the value of £25 had been ordered. Mr. Ward said he had also visited the men at two of the fortress stations, and a considerable quantity of sports gear, as well as radio sets and other articles, had been provided for them.
