A.I.F. MEN AT PLAY

A cricket match in Sydney between Military and R.A.A.F. (Bradfleld Park) teams reminded former international players of the festival matches played at the conclusion of the serious and strenuous parts of an English tour. The Military team won by 24 runs. The team was captained by H. L. Collins, and included C. G. Macartney, E. A. Bull, W. L. Trennery, J. M. Taylor, and W. A. Oldfield, all members of the Ist A.T.P., and who, except Macartney, •were in the original. AJ.F. cricket team.

The play provided many flashes of brilliance from the "old" players. Oldfield was as alert as ever behind the wickets. He stumped one and caught two of the R.A.A.3T. team. "Stumped Oldfieldj bowled Macartney^ 0," against the name of one of the opening batsmen of the R.A.A.F. team reminded one of an old-time combination, which still has much merit.

A military wedding took place in the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church, Wellington, recently, when Zara Gwendoline, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Aslin, Wellington, was married to Driver Douglas Ernest Larsen, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Larsen, Martinborough. The Rev. H. R. Fell offi-i ciated. j The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore an ivory satin gown which; fell into a pleated train trimmed with true lovers knots. Her veil, lent byi Mrs. E. Pratt, was worn with a halo I of cream roses and she carried a shower j bouquet of cream roses. The brides-j maid, Miss Betty Aslin, wore a Victorian frock of turquoise blue with a blue veil, and carried a shower of gold roses and blue delphiniums. Private James Harley was best man. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Aslin received the guests at a reception held at their home, 2 Shannon Street. When the bride, and bridegroom left to spend their Honeymoon in ' Auckland the bride was wearing an Air Force blue tailleur with black accessories.
