COMMITTEE BUSINESS
The Wellington Eugby'Union's management committee held its final meeting of the year this week, and at this a financial statement was presented. It was explained by the treasurer that, although a small profit was shown, there were some necessary adjustments to be made, and it was likely that there would be a loss of between £400 and £500 on the year's workings. Members agreed that the financial result of the past season was better than had been expected, taking into account the extent to which clubs and play had been affected by players going on war service. ; Receipts were £5833 7s 2d, club "gates" totalling £2337 13s 6d, as against £4576 10s 6d in the previous season. Representative matches produced £1964 6s 2d compared with £2485 3s 9d in 1939. The expenses amounted to £5709 8s 6d, with some adjustments still to be made before the statement for the year was com- • pleted. The rent of grounds had meant an expenditure of £1633 3s 6d, and "gates" allocated for deserving objef*" amounted to £500 16s Bd.
