PRESENTED TO COLLEGE

The presentation to the-college by bid boys of a number of rustic seats ■was announced at old boys' day at "Wellington College yesterday afternoon by Mr. Len McKenzie, president of the Old Boys' Association. The seats, which are nearing completion, will be erected in various parts of the grounds, overlooking the sports fields. "These seats are rustic for a purpose," said Mr. McKenzie. "They are to commemorate the goodfellowship and hard work that has been done by old boys. I hope that these seats, rustic as they are, will be an incentive: to the boys of the college to remember that it is from the rustic life of youth that the polished article is moulded."

The principal of the college (Mr. \ A. Armour), who gratefully acknow ledged the presentation of the seats, remarked that it was actually the second old boys' day that had been held this year, the first being in April, but, being the day set aside for the celebration of the birthday of the King, it seemed a fitting occasion on which the old boys should gather. The boys of the college had been looking forward to meeting the former pupils on the playing fields and in the swimming pool, and but for a lack of ammunition, due to war conditions, shooting contests would also have been arranged. The old boys themselves always looked forward to the day, and it was an occasion on which they frequently looked back and recalled many happy memories of their school days.

Mr. McKenzie said that the rustic seats had been presented by Mr. M. C. Barnett, founder of old boys' day, Mr. W. W. Cook, secretary of the Old Boys' Association, Mr. B. O. Binnie, treasurer, Mr. C. A. Innes, former treasurer and assistant secretary, Mr. H. Desborough, former treasurer and assistant secretary and now a vice-pre-sident, and himself.,
