REMARKS DENIED
CRITIC OF AUSTRALIAN PARLIAMENT
MENTION IN HOUSE
CANBERRA, November 23 %
The president of the Australian* Returned Sailors' and Soldiers' League, Mr. L. A. Robb, said he had been wrongly reported at the league's conference. "Many of the statements attributed to me regarding Federal politics," he said, "were not uttered by me at all and the whole matter generally was the subject' of definite misrepresentation."
The statements attributed to Mr. Robb caused surprise in State Ministerial circles, because, as secretary to the Governor, Mr. Robb is a State public servant.
Speaking in the House of Representatives at Canberra, a Labour member, Mr. Ward, described as "fifth columnists" three speakers at the annual conference of the Returned Soldiers' and Soldiers' League. He urged the Government to take action under the National Security regulations against Mr. Robb and als<» against Mr. W..D. Sharland, South Australia, and .Mr. H. S. Marshall, Victoria.
Mr. Robb, in the course of his remarks, was reported to have said that if Australia could not get a National Government in which the parties would work together it would be better to have a dictator. Mr. Sharland was reported to have said that he was disgusted and amazed at the way the Federal Parliament was acting.
