Admiral Muselier, head of General Charles de Gaulle's "Free French naval and air force," has answered Hitler's threat to treat his men as pirates by threatening retaliation against German captives. Muselier's threat was contained in an order of the day issued from General de Gaulle's headquarters in London. "I have made prisoners and hostages," declared the Admiral. "They will answer for the lives of my sailors and airmen who, despite all the risks, are fighting in the national uniform." The Free French air force which Hitler announced would be subject to "special attention," already claim to have brought down several German planes without the loss of a man.
