SUCCESSFUL YEAR
COMPETITIONS SOCIETY
The success in spite of the war attending this year's effort of the Wellington Competitions Society was commented upon at last night's annual meeting of the society, over which Mr. Barton Ginger presided. Various suggestions were discussed relative to the improvement of the syllabus. It was admitted that next year would be a difficult one. but the point was emphasised that the society would carry on. It was hoped to have the services of Dr. .Staton next year, and to have a hall set aside solely for vocal and instrumental sections.
Mr. Barton Ginger added that they had been fortunate in the interest taken by Lord and Lady Galway in the competitions. The former was patron of the society, and the latter had been present at the final dem.onstration concert, and had presented the trophies. "We regret that their Excellencies are leaving New Zealand, and can assure them that they will always be remembered by the Wellington Competitions Society for their kindly interest and support."
The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. E. R. Myers; vice-presi-dent. Mr. D. J. Constable; treasurer, Mr. H. L. Cooper; acting honorary secretary. Mr. J. A. Martin; executive, Messrs. W. A: "Cunningham; F. L. Geriti'y, "G: W. Morgan. W. E. Howe, H. Hatch, R. E. Mustchin, H. E. Brooker, F. L." Woolridge, J. Carf, H. C. Foster, W E\ Fuller. S. Smith. J. Watchman, R.'Trewern, and J.
