ARMY SEEKING MATCH

INTERPROVINGIAL GAMES

Treritham Camp would be able to field a good team, stated a letter from the Army authorities received at last night's meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association, but the committee decided to reply that the game between .Army and Wellington representatives tentatively fixed for Labour Day would have to be postponed until a later date. There was hot sufficient time for .full arrangements to be made, especially as it had been proposed to hold the match for patriotic purposes. With regard to' Plunket Shield ' matches, • Christchurch wrote suggesting that the games should go on without the shield at stake, proceeds to be: pooled and profits or losses snared. Auckland suggested that ordinary re-, presentative matches BhoulU be played. It was decided to write to both associations asking them to further consider Wellington's offer of home and home matches against Auckland and Christchurch, with the further suggestions of making the games three-day fixtures and arranging billets, for. visiting players, so further cutting expenses.
