AUCKLAND APPOINTMENTS
Several, important diocesan. appointments were announced by Bishop Simkih during his charge to the Auckland' Synod. These included an appointment to the aw Archdeaconry of Waitemata which the Bishop said he had created by dividing the Archdeaconry of Auckland, in accordance with a proposal approved at the clergy conference last year.' : . , . .
The ■ Yen. H. A. Hawkins, Archdeason of Auckland, and. senior: Church of England Chaplain and Field Secretary, . has been made Vicar-General. The Rev. T. H. C. Partridge, vicar of Onehunga, has been chosen .Archdeacon of Manukau, taking . the post which the Bishop vacated on his elevation .to the episcopate. The Rev. P. Houghton, vicar of St. Mark's, R'erhuera, has been selected, as : the first Archdeacon of Waitemata and has also been appointed commissary to act in the absence of' the Vicar-General.
Another appointment has been'that of the Rev. R. J. Stanton: vicar' of Otahuhu, to be. an honorary canon in the .Cathedral Chapter. .., ' .
The post of Chancellor of the Diocese will be filled by.Mr.A.: M. Woods, of Whangarei.- Mr. K. F. Forrest,.:of Auckland, has been appointed-Church Advocate of the Diocese, Mr. G. L. Hesketh,' of Auckland,'has been, made Registrar of the - Bishop's Court, ' and Mr.E: G.'Cowell, of Auckland, has been appointed Assessor of the Bishop's Court. The Revs. P. E. James, and RH. Hobday have been chosen as com-, missaries in England. ' ' ; .
