PLAY IN SUBURBS

. Several cricket clubs had practices on Saturday in. preparation for the season's competitions. The opportunities, however, were limited to clubs out of town. Amongst those practising with the Hutt Club .was H. G. Vivian, Auckland and New Zealand representative, who is now at Trentham Camp. Johnsonville arid Onslow arranged a practice match at Johnsonville.

A match between teams representing the Hutt District Cricket Club and the Empire Club resulted in a win for the Hutt Club. Scores were: Hutt, 182 (Chapman 54, Wall 43) ; Empire, 87 (Harding 39). Bowling: For Hutt, Gillies two for 11, Chapman two for 14; for Empire, Sherlock three for 33, Harding two for 25. __■
