R. C. BLUNTS DOINGS

INJURIES AFFECT PLAY

During the years which R. G. Blunt has spent in England there have been references from time. to time to this New Zealand representative's part in cricket in the Old Country. There were reports last season of performances by him for Sir Julien Cahn's team, as there had been in other seasons, and again this year there has been some news of Blunt taking part in cricket in England.

In view of that the following message from Dunedin comes as surprising:—"lnquiries have frequently been made concerning the movements of the great cricketer Roger Blunt,, who left Dunedin seven years ago under a business engagement to Sir Julien Cahn in England. No reports of Blunts cricket activities were received after the first three years following his departure and it is only recently that his name cropped up again as top scorer in a wartime match between a Notts team and an Air Force eleven. A letter received by a friend in Dunedin throws some light on the situation, as in it the New Zealand' player tells of a series of misfortunes. First, some three years ago, he suffered a back injury which put him out of the game for a season. Then he broke a shoulder blade, and finally, about a year ago, when he had resumed playing, he took a hard drive on the top of his fingers, causing a serious injury which again put him out of cricket."
