At the present moment this large body of players, numbering close on 600, is devoting a great deal of time to helping all branches of patriotic work, and al-j though the local matches will be continued as usual, many of the clubs are! having whole days set aside each week when members meet at the clubrooms and carry on with the work of preparing articles of clothing for the refugees, knitting for soldiers, and making hospital requirements for the Red Cross and St. John Ambulance depots. The number of cases already dispatched from the clubs would be impossible to calculate. Apart from the actual labour put into these preparations most of the clubs have given handsomely towards the Spitfire Fund, several of the donations being over £10.
