IMPROVED SEASON
WORSER BAY SURF CLUB
A pronounced improvement, despite war conditions, is noted in the thirtieth annual report of the Worser Bay Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club. The membership for the year. 24 seniors and 11 juniors, compares favourably with last year's, but as yet it is far below the optimum. The club having suffered as a result of wartime conditions, must make every effort during the next year to increase its membership, and must look to its more active members in order to maintain the club^s swimming and life-saving activities. Two club members are overseas with the forces, and five are on home service. .The finances-of the club are satisfactory. C. T. Jones gained first place in the Peck Shield harbour swim and returned fourth fastest time in the Annette Kellerman Cup. ' The club was fully represented in swimming, life-saving, and water-polo contests, and six members gained the bronze medallion of the Royal Life-saving Society and the New Zealand surf medallion. The following is a list of winners of club trophies:—Club championship, C. T. Jones; Blair Cup, H. Lane; Brodie Cup, J. W. Newport; Rountree Cup, V. L. Allan; Allan Cup, A. Pearson; Heath Memorial, C. McKnight; De Rose ;Memorial, P. Travers. The annual meeting is to be held on Monday.
